Using a Template to Design Your Website

Designing a website for your business is a very important task. In many instances it is the first point of reference a potential customer has with your company. A website needs to be appealing and user friendly. It also needs to provide any potential customers with all the information they need to make a choice about using you and your company’s services.

A lot of businesses spend a lot of money hiring website developers to design a fancy looking website. This is all well and good if your business has the kind of money it requires to hire such services. If you are designing your business website on a budget, then perhaps a website template design may be of use to you.

A website template is a pre-designed skeleton website. A template can be very basic or they can incorporate many different design elements of a website including flash. Many companies provide economical choices for templates, and also offer a wide range of styles. After purchasing a template you then tweak it to your businesses customizations and within a few hours of purchase your website can be up and running.

A website template has many benefits. As the designing is already done, a lot of the stress is taken out of the process for you. You don’t have to spend hours with a designer agonizing over minute design details. Templates are also more economical than custom website designs, and in these tough economic times that is a big bonus. The downside is that it is fairly fixed. You probably won’t be able to customize it if you change your mind in the future.

Tips to Avoid Catching a Computer Virus

Computer viruses can be bad news for your computer. If you take some precautionary steps to help protect your computer it will decrease your chances of picking up anything nasty from the World Wide Web.

The number one way to protect yourself from harmful viruses is to install good quality anti-virus software onto your computer. Investing money and purchasing software that is authorized is the best way to go. It will then come with guarantees and usually 24/7 phone and internet support. There are also free versions of anti-virus software available, however don’t download or install anything unless you are absolutely sure it is a legitimate piece of anti-virus software.

Do not open any files or applications unless you know exactly what it is. Many websites these days are tricking people into downloading viruses and malware from their websites. Don’t fall victim to the trap. Also, do not open any email attachments unless you know the sender. Even if you do know the sender, only open the attachment if you have been expecting it from the person. If in doubt it is always a good idea to email the person back and ask them if the attachment is safe to open.

You may do everything you can to prevent yourself from getting a computer virus. But even the craftiest of viruses can slip through our security efforts. A smart idea is to back up everything on your computer on a frequent basis. That way, if your computer does get a virus, at least you won’t lose all of that important information on your computer.

There are a multitude of websites out there. Some are good to visit and are safe. While others can harm your computer if you are not careful. How to know when websites are dangerous to your computer? One should arm their computers with the best information possible on these bad websites.

The world-wide web can be a nice place. This is especially true when a person’s computer is not getting infested by some unexpected virus or other malicious software . Computer viruses and spy ware can find your computer when you are not looking for it. If you would like to avoid your computer being victimized by these destructive forces. The best offense is a good defense.

According to the information provided by a survey from GOOGLE, 10 percent of the websites globally can be labeled not safe, and can contain a computer virus or malicious software that can prove to be a threat to any computer.

Some of the websites that are dangerous to your computer are as follows:

Any websites that have ads which encourage you to click on them are almost always not safe. This also applies to pop-ups too.
Any websites that contain pornographic material and or links are almost always not safe. Whenever there are free nude videos and you click on them. You will unknowingly download spy ware or malicious software to your computer.
Any websites that offer free low-rated software to download can also be very unsafe to unguarded computers.

News Websites, The Best Way to See News

Many people have grown tired of being fed the news and want more choice in which stories to follow. By visiting news websites you can gain access to the stories you are most interested in. Many of the websites are maintained by the same news casts you have grown to prefer. All of the major networks make news available like CNN or MSNBC and it is easy to find what you are looking for.

Websites like CNN offfer a wide range of ways to get the news. There are news articles as well as news clips, many of them the same ones you would see on the news broadcasts. Menus make it easy to ge to the specific topics and categories of news you are most interested in viewing.

Newspapers are also realizing that the best way for them to stay in business is that they will need to offer their articles online. Pick your favorite newspaper, like the New York Times and do a search for it on the internet. Chances are you can access much of their available content there.

Even the weather has become easy to find and access. Sites such as the Weather Channel or Weather Underground can give you up to the moment information about may of the wealth facts. No need to wait or the local broadcast that happens every ten minutes. If you need to know about school closings, you can easily find this out on the news websites.

The internet is a growing source of current news and it is an important way to keep updated.

Choosing A URL For Your Website

If you are reading this you are probably already interested in starting your own website. One of the important aspects of starting your website is choosing a URL that works for your site. make sure not to confuse the URL with the title or name of your site. Although these are often the same, it is important to remember that they don’t have to be the same. The URL is the address by which people can find your website, such as www.google.com. In this example the name of the website is the same as the URL.

Choosing a URL these days is not simple and it isn’t because it is hard to come up with a name. Choosing a URL today can be difficult because so many of them are already being used. Other URLs may not be used but they are already owned and you’d have to pay a high price to get them.

Consider using a shortened version of your website name as the URL. In the perfect world they would be the same because that makes your website easy to remember and find again. If you want to start a website on a common topic you probably can’t find a variation of the word in its proper spelling that is still available.

Therefore, one has to be creative. Don’t worry too much about finding the perfect well know Search Engine Optimized title. Focus on coming up with a good memorable title and make sure you content is worth returning to and checking in on. That is what will bring people back to your website anyway.

If you are just hoping for a viral video or something you may never get the traffic you are hoping to have. Interesting content arranged in an easy to access format is one important aspect of your website.

You will also need to market your site which will include a few different options. First, you need to make sure that your website is recognized by search engines. You can advertise your site on other sites and contact people to visit your site. It is important that you market your site in a variety of ways, you have to build the site and let everyone know it is there. So come up with your topic, create some content, set up a site, and market it.

AOL Gets More Diverse With Buy of the Huffington Post

Have you heard about how blogging can make a person rich? Thousands – if not millions – of people have blogs now, and we see them advertised all over the ‘Net. People monetize them in different ways, including Google ads, sponsors and search engine optimization and some actually are getting rich. One such blog comes to mind today, as we read about AOL’s buying of the Huffington Post.
Arianna Huffington started the huge media site Huffington Post in 2005, where she and other bloggers wrote for free. As time went by, she monetized it enough to pay people to write for her, and the site has become one of the biggest news publications online. It’s in the top ten news sites (#8) accessed daily with over 25 million monthly visitors. Because of the sale, she now is in charge of all news for AOL- what a promotion! Good transition for a blogger, huh?
AOL Struggles to Stay Alive
AOL, another huge news publication online is also an Internet access;  AOL, who’s been struggling to keep up with the Joneses. At one time AOL was really popular and it acquired Time Warner, setting it apart from other media giants. AOL’s audience is a bit older than the Huffington Post’s audience is, but the two together are expected to be an all-news source for everyone.
AOL has, in recent years, bought other blogs, including AOL’s Black Voices; an African American news section, and AOL Latino. The Huffington Post announced the creation of Global Black, a dedicated online space to serve people of color, and in partnership with Sheila Johnson, the cofounder of BET.
Richard Prince is a journalist and founder of the online Journal-isms, a site that focuses on diversity issues in the media, explained that in the old media (television and print publications) people of color are in charge of general interest publications and this isn’t the case online.  With the Huffington Post to add to AOL’s list of news sites, there will be more diversity in reporting, without having to go out and find it.

Website Owner in Big Trouble While Website is Nominated for Peace Prize

Owner of website, WikiLeaks – which as been removed online – is in London on house arrest after being accused of rape by two Swedish women. One woman says Julian Assange, 39, ignored her request for him to use a condom during sex and the other claims he had unprotected sex with her while she slept. Whether these claims are valid or politically motivated remains to be seen, and Sweden is trying to have him extradited from England to stand trial.
Assange has made public information out of secret US Military files, angering US officials and bringing world attention to the website. He published photos of the torture and mistreatment of prisoners of war and other documents telling the world other US secrets.

If Sweden is successful Assange could stand trial and then be passed on to the US, where it’s possible he could face execution. His lawyer, Geoffrey Robertson, told press that Sweden’s prime minister may have ruined his client’s chance at a fair trial by making comments that “turned Assange into public enemy number one in Sweden.”
The hearing in London is to decide whether or not England will allow extradition. Defense says Assange had consensual sex with the women and he isn’t liable. Assange’s side of the story hasn’t been told, as only the accusers have been able to tell their side, so far. It’s typical of British extradition hearings not to hear any of the evidence by the accused.
Assange is confined strictly to an address. The extradition hearing, which lasted three days, has been adjourned for now and won’t be back in session until a decision is made on February 24th. The presiding judge has commented that he expects there to be an appeal from either side, no matter which side wins.
Amidst all this attention, the website owned by Assange, WikiLeaks.com, has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by Norwegian Legislator Snorre Valen, 26. The site was nominated for it’s work disclosing classified documents that could promote world peace.

Web Addresses are Running out; What Will we Do?

IP addresses, or computer’s Internet Protocol addresses are numbers that identify a computer when it goes online. When Internet addresses were first used, the set up was for 4.3 billion address numbers; who could have guessed that more numbers would be needed later?
The system used now is called, IPv4, or Internet Protocol version 4, and it encompasses all the numbers in the Internet to date. They say the world is running out of IP addresses to give out; the Internet will be full. The last two blocks of Internet addresses were purchased January 3rd, 2011.
What people don’t know is that they have another Internet worked out, and it has room for – get this number – 340 undecillion addresses. An undecillion has 12 zeros, and there are 340 of them. Just one undecillion is a capacity that’s thought will never be reached, as was the version 4 Internet when it was created.
We Won’t Run Out of Bandwidth Completely

The new version of the Internet, or IPv6, seems that it’ll last centuries, but it was never thought that version 4 would be filled in such a short time. The new version is likely to be used, only it’s going to be very difficult to get people to publish on it and get it started.
The two versions cannot communicate; they speak different languages, so they cannot integrate or even be used simultaneously. It’s going to be tough to sell space on version 6 when everyone else is on version 4. People will have to surf on two Internets to see all they want to see and people will have to pay for two websites in order to be seen by all, and in this day of instant gratification, that’s a failure waiting to happen.
It’s a prediction that people will stick to version 4 for some time after version 6 is on the market, sticking with what they know. Only the new businesses and innovative thinkers will be using version 6 at first, which will become the modern/trendy web place to be, and space in either version is going up.
